The scale on a highway construction drawing is 0.5 inches for every 45 miles. If the drawing shows the highway is 4 inches long, how long is the actual highway? miles

    4/0.5=8. So 8 segments of 45 miles. 45 multiplied by 8 is then 360 miles for the highway.

    because. 5inches to get to 4 inches you must multiply by 8
