    25 6/12 = 306/12is the total feet of a string

    4 3/12 = 51/12 feet got lost

To get a remaining part subtract the lost part from the total string

    306/12-48/12=255/12

    =21 1/4

Therefore the remaining part of a string is 21 1/4 feet
