6 x 2 = 12 (2 gallons x 6 fish)

20 - 12 = 8 (20 gallons - 12 gallons)

8 / 2 = 4 (8 gallons / 2 gallons per each fish)

6 + 4 = 10 (6 original fish + 4 new fish)

So you can have 10 fish in total.

Or just do ...

20 / 2 = 10 (20 gallons / 2 gallons per fish) = 10 fish
