Just one bacterium dividing every 20 minutes could produce nearly 5000 billion billion bacteria in one day. That is 5,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 bacteria could this be correct or did the person make a mistake?

    That is correct, however, you need to keep in mind that each bacteria created will multiply the same way the original does, so you have exponential growth
