    Ignore the inequality sign for now. It is distracting and confuses people. Treat it like an equal sign. First of all, you want to combine like terms. To do this, subtract 4/2 from both sides. (4/2 = 2) so 7-2 = 5. Now your equation should look like this:

    5>-x.

    Now you aren't done yet. - x is the same as - 1x. You need to get x alone. So divide both sides by a negative.

    Now you have:

    -5>x or x<-5

    You have to flip the sign around because you moved stuff from one side to the other. Your answer will be:

    x>-5
