    Ok so remember

    a + (b+c) = (a+b) + c and

    a (b+c) = ab+ac so

    (7x^2-4x-9) - (5x^2+10x-5) =

    7x^2-4x-9-5x^2-10x+5=

    group like terms

    7x^2-5x^2-4x-10x-9+5=

    2x^2-14x-4
