    The term Zoid in geometry use term to refer to "shapes," without definite properties for problems. For example, comparing two groups of shapes and say a "Zoid" is any shape in both groups, then such is the case. It's simply a "nothing," they added an "-oid" in the end to make it sound like a figure.
