I don't know how to solve this, solving systems of linear equations:

The Frosty Ice Cream shop sells sundaes for $2 and banana splits for $3. On a hot summer day, the shop sold 8 more sundaes than banana splits and made $156. How many bananas did they use if there is 1/2 a banana on each banana split?

    S=sundae number

    b=bananasplit number

    8 mroe sundaes thatn banana splits

    s=8+b

    and made 156

    2s+3b=156

    solve

    sub 8+b for s

    2 (8+b) + 3b=156

    16+2b+3b=156

    16+5b=156

    minus 16 both sides

    5b=140

    divide both sides by 5

    b=28

    28 banana splits

    1/2 on each

    28 times 1/2=14

    14 bananas
