A newspaper reports the following changes in the temperature of a city over 4 days: 2.64 degrees Celsius, negative 2 over 9 degrees Celsius, - 0.35 degrees Celsius, 5 over 8 degrees Celsius.

Write an expression to show the average daily change in the temperature of the city.

Write the steps to solve the expression.

Round your answer to the nearest hundredth.

    2.64 + (-2/9)

    = 2.64 + 0.22

    = 2.86

    - 0.35 + (5/8)

    = - 0.35 + 0.625

    = 0.59

    2.86 + 0.59 = 3.45

    3.45 / 4 = 0.8625

    Answer (to 2. d. p) = 0.86
