    4 (3x-1) = 3+8x-11

    Simplify

    4 (3x-1) = 3+8x-11

    (4) (3x) + (4) (-1) = 3+8x+-11 (Distribute)

    12x+-4=3+8x+-11

    12x-4 = (8x) + (3+-11) (Combine Like Terms)

    12x-4=8x+-8

    12x-4=8x-8

    Subtract 8x from both sides.

    12x-4-8x=8x-8-8x

    4x-4=-8

    Add 4 to both sides.

    4x-4+4=-8+4

    4x=-4

    Divide both sides by 4.

    4x/4=-4/4

    x=-1
