While the x-intercept is where y is 0, the y-intercept is where x is 0.

In ordered pairs, this means the first number (x) is always 0 for the y-intercept and the second number (y) is always 0 for the x-intercept.

An x intercept would have a positive or negative integer in the x value (i. e (3,0))

    a y intercept would have a positive or negative integer in the y value (i. e (0,3))
