5x - 3 (2x-4) is equivalent to 12 - x

    First you do: - 3 (2x-4)

    You get: - 6x+12

    Now you have: 5x-6x+12

    5x-6x=-x

    Now you have: - x+12

    -x+12=12-x

    So yes: 5x-3 (2x-4) = 12-x
