    First you need to add 3 to each side.

    3x - 3 + 3 = 4x - 14 + 3

    Then combine like terms

    3x = 4x - 11

    Next subtract 4x from each side

    3x - 4x = - 11

    -1x = - 11

    Then divide by - 1 to each side

    x = 11
