Two less than the quotient of a number and 5 is equal to 6.

    (c/5) - 2 = 6

    Since you are subtracting 2 from the quotient, the quotient must be done first.

    add 2 to both sides.

    (c/5) = 8

    multiply 5 on both sides

    c = 40
