    Because 2x+3y=1 and the value of y is x-8, we substitute

    2x + 3 (x-8) = 1

    2x + 3x - 24=1

    5x = 24

    x=4.8

    Given that we have the value of x, we can now substitute it in the other equation.

    y=x-8

    y=4.8-8

    y = - 3.2

    The answer is (4.8, - 3.2)
