    1/4 = 2/8 3/8 + 2/8 = 5/8 Therefore, 3/8 of the playground is left for the swings and play equipment

Times 1/4 by 2 so they have the same denominator, = 2/8

    So, 2/8+3/8 = 5/8

    1 - 5/8 = 3/8

3/8 is left for the swings and play equipment.
