To make orange paint, Bryan mixes red paint and yellow paint in the ratio 3 to 2 (3:2). If he uses 8.5 gallons of yellow paint, how many gallons of red paint can he use?

    if 8.5=yellow=2 units

    find 3 units

    8.5=2 units

    dividd 2

    4.25=1 unit

    3 units=4.25 times 3

    3 units=12.74

    he used 12.75 gallons of red
