    Parallel lines have the same slope so the line parallel to y = 5x - 3 with a y-intercept of 6 would be y = 5x + 6

    For perpendicular, the slope is negative reciprocal of the original line. So negative reciprocal of 5 would be - 1/5

    Therefore the perpendicular line would be y = - 1/5x + 6
