Rate of change is like slope. Change in y / change in x

First we have to solve for the y.

x^2 - 3x - 4 when x = 7

7^2 - 3 (7) - 4 = 24 (7,24)

x^2-3x-4 when x=10

10^2-3 (10) - 4 = 66 (10,66)

(66-24) / (10-7)

42/3 = 14
