    Let the length of the rectangle be L and the width be W.

    Given that the length is twice the width, Then:

    L = 2W ... (1)

    But we know that the perimeter is 36.

    ==> 2L + 2W = 36

    ==> 2L + L = 36

    ==> 3L = 36

    ==> L = 36/3 = 12

    ==> W = 12/2 = 6

    Now we will calculate the area:

    ==> A = L * W = 12 * 6 = 72 square feet.

    Then the area of the rectangle is 72 square feet.

    I am 100% sure that that would be the answer!
