    1. the degree is the highest exponent ... so answer is 6

    2. there is no exponent in this, so the degree is 0

    3. 5x^8 + 9x^8 = 14x^8

    4. 5y^4 - 9y^4 = - 4y^4

    5. 2x^4 + 5x - 4 ... the degree is 4 ... and the number of terms is 3 ... so basically, it is a 4th degree trinomial
