Three student candidate completed in a student government election, the winner got 5/8 of the votes. and the second place candidate got got 2/8 of the votes. if the rest of the votes went to third candidate. what fraction of the votes did that student get

    Winner got 5/8 ... 2nd place got 2/8 ... so thats (5/8 + 2/8) = 7/8

    therefore, 3rd place candidate got : 1 - 7/8 = 8/8 - 7/8 = 1/8 <==
