Two angles are supplementary if the sum of their measures is 180°. find two supplementary angles such that the larger angle is 56° more than 3 times the smaller angle.

    X = smaller angle

    180 = x + (3x + 56)

    180 = 4x + 56

    124 = 4x

    31 = x

    smaller angle is 31 degrees

    3 (31) + 56 = larger angle

    149 = larger angle
