    3x - y = - 1 ⇒ 6x - 3y = - 2

    2x + y = - 14 ⇒ 6x + 2y = - 42

    -5y = 40

    -5 - 5

    y = - 8

    3x - (-8) = - 1

    3x + 8 = - 1

    -8 - 8

    3x = - 9

    3 3

    x = - 3

    (x, y) = (-3, - 8)
