I roll two dice. what is the probability that the 2nd number is greater than the 1st?

    You could list the possibilities:

    (1,2) (1,3 ((1,4) (1,5) (1, 6), 2,3) etc

    then required probability = the count of these possibilities / 36

    36 is the total number of possible outcomes
