Weight Group. Fraction of total cattle

less than 600. 1/5

    Maybe this could clarify it:

    2/5=1/5+1/5

    therefore:

    (340,000) * 2/5=340,000/5 + 340,000/5

    So two fifths of all the cattle is equivilant to 68,000 times two, aka 136,000

    So, a certain number out of 340,000 will gives us the ratio of how many cows are 700-799 or 2/5, meaning the x out of 340,000 is equivalent to 2/5.

    x/340,000 = 2/5

    5x = 170,000

    5x/5 = 170,000/5

    x = 340,000
