When diving, a hummingbird can reach a speed of 40 miles per hour. What is this speed in ft per second? Round to the nearest hundredth if necessary

    1 mile = 5280 ft ... so 40 miles = (5280 * 40) = 211200 ft

    60 seconds per minute, and 60 minutes per hr ... so 1 hr = (60 x 60) = 3600 seconds.

    211,200 / 3600 = 58.67 ft per second
