"Common" means "same for both". Anything that's "common" is the same

for two different items. Numbers like "least common multiple" and "greatest

common factor" and "least common denominator" always involve two numbers

(at least). There can't be anything "common" about a single thing.

'8' is just a single number, so there can't be anything common about it.

The Least Common Multiple (LCM) of the number

    8 is 1.

because 1 is the smallest number that all of the numbers divide into evenly.
