    0.75 (x+40) = 0.35 (x+20) + 0.35 (x+20)

    0.75 (x+40) = (x+20) (0.35+0.35)

    0.75 (x+40) = 0.7 (x+20)

    times both sides by 100

    75 (x+40) = 70 (x+20)

    distribute

    75x+3000=70x+1400

    minus 70x both sides

    5x+3000=1400

    minus 3000 both sides

    5x=-1600

    divide both sides by 5

    x=-320

    one solution

    B is answer
