Using the ordered pairs given, the quadratic equation would be:

    f (x) =.5x^2 - 2x + 18

To find the cost of 8 widgets plug 8in for x.

    f (8) =.5 (8) ^2 - 2 (8) + 18

    f (8) =.5 (64) - 16 + 18

    f (8) = 32 + 2

    f (8) = $34
