What is 1700000000 in scientific notation

    1700000000You see there is no decimal ... so we have to put one. Whenever there is no decimal, its just add the end; )

    Now our number has to be greater then 1 but less than 0.

    So as you can see 17 is greater then 10. So what about 1.7? Yes thats greater then one but less than 0!

    So lets see how many spaces it takes to move the decimal there.

    I got 9.

    So then we do this:

    1.7*10^9

    Got it?

    1.7 * 10^9th power

    you move the decimal up 9 places to get 1.7 so 10 is to the 9th power
