A ranger spots a forest fire on a 24-meter observation tower. The angle of depression from the tower to the fire is 29°. To the nearest meter, how far is the fire from the base of the tower?

    Let x = distance to fire

    tan29 = 24/x

    x tan29 = 24

    x = 24/tan29

    x = 43.30m (2dp)
