    Try to put all the x-es on one side and then find a value of one x. In this case:

    x + 36 = 4x / - x (both sides)

    36 = 3x / : 3 (both sides)

    x = 12

    Isolate 36 by subtracting x on both sides

    36=4x-x

    36=3x

    divide both sides by 3

    x=12
