You multiply the terms i n the second bracket by x then multiply them by + 2 then simplify

    = 2x^3 + 9x^2 + 8x + 4x^2 + 18x + 16

    now add like terms

    = 2x^3

    - now add the like terms : - 9x^2 + 4x^2 = 13x^2 and so on
