In Owen's class there are three times as many boys as girls. There are 18 boys in the class how many pupils are in the class altogether?

    18/3=6

    6+18=24

    24 students all together

    3x = 18 - 3 times girls = # boys = 18

    x = 6 - # of girls in the class
