What are the side lengths in a rectangle if the area is 60 and perimeter is 32?

    A = L*W

    P = 2 (L+W)

    60 = LW

    32=2 (L+W); 16 = L+W; W=16-L

    Plug that into the area equation:

    60=L * (16-L); L^2-16L+60=0; Factoring: (L-10) (L-6) = 0,

    so L can be 10, or 6.

    If L is 6, W is 10, and If L is 10, W is 6.

    Thus the side lengths are 10, and 6.
