How do I work out "The beam from a lighthouse reaches a distance of 8 kilometers and spreads to an angle of 35 degrees. Calculate the area covered by the beam from the lighthouse."

    The whole circle has 360 degrees

    You just need to count the area of circle with radius of 8 km and then multiple it by the fraction 35 over 360.
