    X = monthly rent

    x + 1.5x = 3275

    2.5x = 3275

    x = 3275/2.5

    x = 1310 < = = rent

    1.5 (1310) = 1965 - - security deposit

    check ...

    1310 + 1965 = 3275

    3275 = 3275 (correct)

    so his monthly rent is : $ 1310
