First you should make the "9/25" equal to the original fraction which is out of 150. multiply both the numerator and denominator by 6 in order to get 54/150. This is stating that 54 out of 150 people have dogs. Now it says that 1/6 of the people who own dogs also own cats. So divide 54 by which would equal 9, then subtract 9 from 54 to get your answer of 45 people who own dogs that do not own cats.
