Keena bought a total of 16 apples and oranges for $20. Each orange was $2, and each apple was $1. How many apples and oranges did Keena buy?

    Set apples x

    set oranges (16-x)

    1*x+2 * (16-x) = 20

    x+32-2x=20

    -x=-12

    x=12

    16-x=4

    so there are 12 apples and 4 oranges
