    5/6 - 4/12

Change 5/6 so it has a denominator of 12 by multiplying too and bottom by 2.

    5/6 = 10/12

    Now do:

    10/12-4/12 = 6/12

6/12 can be simplified to 1/2

    Answer is 1/2
