We know that 5/6 is way more than 1/2 so we will be safe is we chose a fraction that has a denominator of 8 and is half or less

4/8, 3/8,2/8 and 1/8 are all safe bets and are less than 5/6

so is 5/8 because there is a rule that says is two fractions have the same numerator, the one with the smaller denominator is larger 5/6 > 5/8

    Even 6/8 is smaller. If you change it to a decimal 6/8 = 3/4 =.75 5/6 =.8333 ...

.833 ... >.75 so we have lots of fractions we can write:

    1/8, 2/8, 3/8, 4/8 5/8 and 6/8

7/8 is not because of different rule. If the numerators and denominator of two fractions are the same distance apart the larger pair is greater.

Notice in 7/8, the 8 is one more than 7 and in 5/6, the 6 is one more than 5 (notice that the smaller number in each pair was in the numerator). 7/8>5/6
