If a car travels 30 mi. north for one-half hour, 50. mi. east for one hour, and 30 mi. south for 30 min., what is the total distance the car traveled?

    The total distance is D=d1+d2+d3

    d1=30x0.5

    d2=50x1

    d3=30x0.5

    D=d1+d2+d3=80miles
