The five members of a band are getting new outfits. Shirts cost $12 each, pants cost $29 each, and boots cost $49 a pair. What is the total cost of the new outfits for all of the members?

    You add all the shirts pants etc together ... which is 12+29+49 then you times it by 5 because there are 5 members in the group, this will leave you with the total cost of the bands outfits! you total should be $450 in the end

    If you add the cost of the uniforms up to get to get 90 (12+29+49) that gets you the cost of a uniform for one person. If you take 90 and multiply it by 5 (since there are 5 members) you get $450 as a total cost.
