    2 (-3y - 6) + 4 (5y - 8) = 92 |use distributive property: a (b - c) = ab - ac

    -6y - 12 + 20y - 32 = 92

    14y - 44 = 92 |add 44 to both sides

    14y = 136 |divide both sides by 14

    y = 136/14

    y = 68/7

    y = 9 5/7
