Since 1959, the inch we was use has been defined as exactly 2.54 centimeters. Does a square inch equal 2.54 square centimeters? Explain. Use multiplication to justify your reasoning.

    Area = legnth times width

    square=legnth times legnth

    2.54 is the legnth

    area=2.54 times 2.54=6.4516 cm^2

    so a square inch does not equal 2.54 cm^2
