    He can go 3/5 of a mile in 1/4 of an hour. 1/2 of an hour is twice that of 1/4 of an hour

    so all you have to do is double the 3/5

    3/5+3/5 = 6/5 or 1 1/5 miles

    alternatively you can just multiply by two,

    3/5*2/1=6/5 or 1 1/5 miles

    This is a proportion problem. I would turn them into decimals to get the best result.

    3/5 =.6

    1/4 =.25

    1/2 =.5

    Do the proportion

    .6/.25 = x/.5

    Cross multiply and divide

    .5 x. 6 =.3

    .3 divide by. 25 = 1.2

    Now turn this into a fraction.

    1.2 = 1 2/10

    Now simplify

    Answer is 1 1/5
