    Multiply the equation x+y = 4 by - 5

    The resultant would be-

    -5x - 5y = - 20

    Adding this with 5x + 2y = 8

    Then, the resulting would be,

    -3y = - 12

    ∴ y=4

    and x=4-4 = 0
