Real time mapping of a function to a new function is known as Fourier transforms. The new mapped function is defined for an interval of (-∞, ∞).

While the Laplace transform is the counterpart, in which a function is mapped to a new function on complex plane. Functions defined for span t≥0 are used by Laplace transformation.
