The butler, the maid, or the cook stole the gold. The butler said the maid took it. The maid said the butler is telling the truth. The cook said he did not take it. At least one of the three told the truth and at least one told a lie. Who took the gold?

    If the maid said the butler is telling the truth, then the maid just said he/she took the gold. The maid is lying. If the maid lied, then the butler lied too so the butler took it.
